In This Very Room

Today we had a second, "Special" stake conference. It was presided over by Elder Ballard. Hence the "Special" part. Did you know that if every stake in the church got a turn to hear a member of the Twelve speak in person, statistically, it would take 27 years for a stake to get a second turn! That is pretty awesome if you think of how Big that makes the church world wide. Thomas and I were called and asked to join the stake choir for the occasion, and it was wonderful. We sang "I know that my Redeemer Lives" and Guide u, Oh Thou Great Jehovah." It went pretty well and we got to sit behind Elder Ballard and shake his hand at the end! There were some really wonderful and poignant things said, of course, but the thing which struck me the most was Elder Ballard's story about a Sunday he had no where he needed to be and was prompted to take his wife and attend their old ward. They went and it just so happened it was a very special Sunday, where the Bishop had asked the members living in a Special needs facility to speak and do a choir number. Elder Ballard said they sang the song "In This Very Room." It's a wonderful song every time I hear it, but putting into the context of who was singing it gave me a whole different perspective.

In this very room there's quite enough love for one like me,
And in this very room there's quite enough joy for one like me,
And there's quite enough hope and quite enough power to chase away any gloom,
For Jesus, Lord Jesus ... is in this very room.

And in this very room there's quite enough love for all of us,
And in this very room there's quite enough joy for all of us,
And there's quite enough hope and quite enough power to chase away any gloom,
For Jesus, Lord Jesus ... is in this very room.

In this very room there's quite enough love for all the world,
And in this very room there's quite enough joy for all the world,
And there's quite enough hope and quite enough power to chase away any gloom,
For Jesus, Lord Jesus ... is in this very room.

It doesn't take very many lines from this song to help you remember just how much we are loved, and how WHEN ever we need him the Lord is there, waiting to comfort, support, listen or just be.... In THIS very room. Where ever that room may be.
